Socks Plus
I found out about the Community West Foundation's Socks Plus initiative about 3 years ago. Community West Foundations is similar to the United Way. While it works on a much smaller scale than the United Way, I'd argue it has just as much impact as the United Way, if not more. They have several initiatives where funds are pushed out to. Some donations are specific as to which organization will be the beneficiary. In other cases where donations are not designated, those funds are allocated to the organizations this foundation supports. Many of these organizations that are beneficiaries are organizations you've heard before.
• Beyond the Walls Food Pantry
• Building Hope in the City
• Catholic Charities Office of Migration and Refugee Services
• CHN Housing Partners (Water Champions)
• Drink Local Drink Tap
• Greater Cleveland Food Bank
• Hunger Network
• ID Crisis Collaborative
• Joshua and Caleb Leadership Center
• Refugee Services Collaborative
• Second Harvest Food Bank
• Society of St. Vincent de Paul Food Centers
• The Refugee Response
• Trials for Hope
• US Committee for Refugees & Immigrants
• Village Project
• West Shore Meals on Wheels
• Westlake United Methodist Church – Food Pantries
• Youth Bee Works
When I 1st heard about Community West Foundation, it was about their Socks Plus initiative. This funding has a HUGE impact on the homeless community.
This is 1 of 2 charities where I give an automatic monthly donation.
