FISCAL OFFICER SCALISE WARNS OF POTENTIAL TEXT MESSAGING SCAM A local property owner looking to pay their real estate tax bill recently informed our office that they received a text message stating “—bill due $$ amount click here to pay due by 07192023”. The message also included “summitoh” which is similar to our Fiscal Office email addresses. Please be advised that the Summit County Fiscal Office DOES NOT send text messages to residents for payment of taxes. There are several convenient ways for property owners to make payment: In-person:   Payments can be made in person at the Summit County Fiscal Office, Treasurer Division, 3rd floor of the Ohio Building, 175 S. Main St., Akron 44308. Office hours are 7:30 am - 4:00 pm, Monday through Friday. By mail:  Mailed payments must be U.S. postmarked by July 14, 2023, to avoid the statutory 10% penalty for late payment. A private meter is not valid for establishing the date of payment. Governor DeWine launches a program to protect residents from lead based paint poisoning.  Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine is launching a new program aimed at protecting residents in all 88 counties across Ohio from exposure to toxic lead. The "Lead Safe Ohio Program" will invest $150 million in state and local efforts to prevent lead poisoning and remediate lead contamination. Gov. DeWine says that $100 million will go toward lead prevention and mitigation.
